Kansas City,
the USA, 2005 |

In the summer of 2005, I spent a month in Kansas City,
USA. I had a chance to be a guest of the Coalition for Independence (CFI)
- one of the numerous organizations in the US, which helps people with
disabilities. Its mission is addressing the unmet needs of people with
disabilities from the USA. The Executive Director of CFI, Clark E. Byron,
invited me to spend a week with them and watch their work. I happily
agreed to be a part of the great staff, learn much about the life of
people with disabilities in the USA, and saw the wonderful and useful
equipment available there for adults and children with different
disabilities. While there, I also attended meetings with the people who
needed aid and learned even more about how these help communicate
important matters between patients and staff. What was very exciting for
me was that the staff of CFI included people with different disabilities.
This organization defends the rights of people with disabilities; it
constantly reminds the US Government about those people. The CFI gives
people with disabilities the means to make their life easier (wheelchairs,
crutches, special equipment for people with speech disabilities to help
them communicate with other people, special toys for children with
disabilities, and many other very necessary devices). They also help
people to do housework (if they need it); the CFI helps people with
disabilities to get education and to find employment. The list of their
work is really too long to describe here.
So after everything I saw at The Coalition for Independence in the USA I
asked myself: Why can't we help Ukrainian people with disabilities to be
productive and positive citizens in Ukraine?
Of course, life in Ukraine is difficult for everybody, but for people
with health problems it is the most difficult. I want to help them to
make their life easier and without unnecessary limits. And that's why
the "Life Without Limits" Charitable Organization was founded.
Our main goal is helping Ukrainian people with disabilities live better
and more independently than they live now.
Our Charitable Organization was founded and we need your support very
much to continue.
If there are any alter egos – WELCOME! Join us!
